At both the state and local level, governments are realizing the benefits of utilizing and integrating Small Unmanned Aerial Systems (sUAS) into Public Safety organizations, including police, fire, and emergency units. Currently, there are over 300 Public Safety Units in the United States that have adopted the use of drones to complement and enhance their services.
Drones, incorporated in effective and efficient UAS dramatically improve the functionality of emergency units. The use of UAVs allows to Public Safety Units to safely and remotely view, monitor and assess a situation before deploying first responders.
Site-specific geography and other obstacles often prevents quick deployment to certain areas. Drones provide a pre-emptive rapid-response measure to monitor locations until first responders can arrive on site.
